Welcome to the Genomics for Mob resource collection

Here you will find resources aimed to support greater understanding of genomics, build trust in genetic healthcare, and improve access to culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland.

We extend our sincere thanks to the First Nations Community Champions and health staff for generously sharing their knowledge, experiences and perspectives. We also thank Professor Greg Pratt and the team at CQU for their leadership, and Gilimbaa for bringing these stories to life through meaningful videos and animations.

Artwork Story

KNOWLEDGE THAT FLOWS THROUGH US

This artwork represents the connection between blood, Country, and community knowledge.

Its story begins with brown and earth-toned ground representing Mother Earth and knowledge embedded in Country.

At the centre, genomics and genetic pathways are connected, showing how knowledge is shared and carried across families, communities, and generations.

Above everything is Sky Country, shown in deep blue tones and symbolising the knowledge that guides us.

The artwork’s message is one of strength, belonging, and self-determination; reflecting a positive future where genomics supports our mob’s health in culturally safe and empowering ways.
